World Bank announces €1.5 billion Sustainable Development Bond

Major advancement in the green economy in support of the Sustainable Development Goals has been met this week. The World Bank has announced a 10-year Global Sustainable Development bond on May 16. The investment goal of €1.5 billion was significantly oversubscribed, reaching €2 billion from 69 investors.

Financing for Sustainable Development Report 2019

The 2019 Financing for Sustainable Development Report (FSDR) of the Inter-agency Task Force on Financing for Development warns that mobilizing sufficient financing remains a major challenge in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Despite signs of progress, investments that are critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) remain underfunded and parts of the multilateral system are under strain. The FSDR recommends that the international community should use this opportunity to reshape both national and international financial systems in line with sustainable development. If we fail to do so, we will fail to deliver the 2030 Agenda.
STI FORUM 2019 : 4th annual Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals

The fourth annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum) will take place on 14-15 May 2019 in UN Headquarters, New York. The theme of the STI Forum 2019 will be: "STI for ensuring inclusiveness and equality, with a special focus on SDGs 4, 8, 10, 13, and 16".

The UNDP Accelerator Labs are UNDP’s new and innovative concept to meet the global challenges of the 21st century. Through local labs, UNDP plans to use its established global network of 170 countries to scale locally sourced and successful innovations to the rest of the world.
World Day of Social Justice-20 February

On 26 November 2007, the UN General Assembly declared that 20 February will be celebrated annually as the World Day of Social Justice. In doing so, it recognizes that social development and social justice are indispensable for the achievement and maintenance of peace and security within and among nations, and supports the global efforts in poverty eradication, equal rights and the promotion of full employment and decent work.
