UNDP opens 60 Accelerator Labs to change the way the UN works

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) seeks social entrepreneurs and innovators in 60 countries to accelerate their programmes. The UNDP Accelerator Labs are UNDP’s new and innovative concept to meet the global challenges of the 21st century. Through local labs, UNDP plans to use its established global network of 170 countries to scale locally sourced and successful innovations to the rest of the world.
World Day of Social Justice-20 February

On 26 November 2007, the UN General Assembly declared that 20 February will be celebrated annually as the World Day of Social Justice. In doing so, it recognizes that social development and social justice are indispensable for the achievement and maintenance of peace and security within and among nations, and supports the global efforts in poverty eradication, equal rights and the promotion of full employment and decent work.
International Day of Women and Girls in Science 11 February

The United Nation General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/70/212, which declared 11 February the International Day of Women and Girls in Science to support the equal access to and participation in science for women and girls. Currently, gender equality in the field of science has not been achieved worldwide, considering less than 30% of researchers are women.

Celebrate the 2019 International Year of Indigenous Language

Background An International Year is an important cooperation mechanism dedicated to raising awareness of a particular topic or theme of global interest or concern, and mobilizing different players for coordinated action around the world. In 2016, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming 2019 as the International Year of Indigenous Languages, based on a recommendation by the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
